Hi John and Steve and Forum Members.
I was offered the opportunity to give away some CDs for a topical podcast that shares the same demographic as my new album. The host has agreed to read a blurb for the next 4 months for each show, that in exchange for listeners subscribing, he will send a CD of my music, but also will read anything I ask him to on the show about how people can come check out my music.
I was wondering, in your opinion, how best to utilize this opportunity. Should I send people to my website where they can access my squeeze page? Should I send people to the squeeze page directly? Is there anything else I am not thinking of to ask for?
Website: johndissed.com
Squeezepage: johndissedmusic.com
Thanks!
JD
Hey John,
Sorry for the slow response. I've been traveling for the last two weeks and only just got back yesterday. Playing catch up now.
That sounds like a great opportunity. If it were me I would come up with a thirty second script that is basically like a conversational version of my squeeze page, and then send people directly to that page. I'd then give them the album as a digital download rather than physical, just to avoid any expenses. But that's certainly your call.
You'd obviously want to change up the language to reflect the fact that you were giving away an album as apposed to just a free track. You'd also want to make sure that you set the page as no index, no follow, so that people can't find it via the search engines.
Let me know if you have any other questions. Best of luck with it.

Thanks, John. I don't think my original post was very clear, but you did answer my main question. I have sent him a few CDs to send to new paid subscribers for the next few months. I am going to send his listeners to my normal squeeze page (via the script you mentioned I give him to read) as I don't want to give them the whole album (you also answered my other question, instead of my website I should direct them to a squeeze page). Also, I thought of the idea of putting a sticker on the CDs that directs those paid subscribers who get physical CDs, to a special squeeze page where I can capture their emails and sell them my box set. When I do the math, this is very cheap paid advertising to my target audience, so I don't mind giving away a few physical copies.
Sounds good. Let us know how you make out.
