Hi John,

Starting a new thread as the last thread was getting a bit sprawling.

I have looked at the pixel codes on my old ads account I used to use, and the new business one, and they both have the same code, though I never set a new pixel up in the business manager. I guess fb must have duplicated it, so hopefully I can assume everything is ok on that front ?

You also mentioned 'make sure you have the right pixel on your site'. I did look this up and see there is some code in 'insert headers and footers'. I was going to go further into checking this- but I have only ever set up one pixel on my website, following MMM so I don't think there can be problems there ?

Thanks,

Karen

All I can really say is what I said before... You need to make sure you have the same pixel on your site, as the one in the ad account you are using. The pixels are not the same in all three of my accounts so I can't imagine that they are in yours. Just go to your ads manager >>> click events manager from the drop down >>> look at the drop down on the next page and make note of your account ID and make sure it is the account you are using for your advertising >>> then make note of the pixel number >>> then make sure it is teh same pixel number that is on your site. If it is, then you should be fine.

Hi John,

Thanks for the above. I definately have the same pixel number for both my 'Karen Grace Music' accounts- both the Business One and the old one. This is the same ID that I see on my website in the headers and footers code. So that seems all good.

But what is confusing me now, is that I created a new custom conversion in my Business Account, called 'subscribers'- I did this a couple of days ago. Then today, when I go to create an ad, using that custom conversion, facebook switches the Ad account to my old 'Karen grace music' Account (away from the business one), and I can't find the 'subscribers' conversion event at the Ad Set level. But it is definately there as an event in my business manager.

Related to this, when I am in 'Events Manager' I can see all 3 of my accounts in the top left corner, and when I am in the 'Ads manager' I can't see my business account in the same place. Please see screen shots.

Honestly, I can't even remember why I created a business account (was it to do with being able to create a lookalike audience or something?!) but it would seem that I'm not actually using it for my ads. And it would seem that I need to, to use this new conversion event. But I don't see how I can, when it doesn't come up under 'ads manager.'

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Karen

Facebook does often switch away like that when you start a new process. I have no idea and it causes a LOT of confusion. But the solution is to simply switch it back from the drop down. Then proceed and your conversion will be there.

It's hard for me to say if I understand exactly what is going on without logging in and clicking around, but what it looks like is that you have created a business manager but not added your personal user account to the business manager, which is likely why some of the elements are appearing in one but not the other.

The only real reason you need the business manager is because you can't upload a list without it, due to privacy laws and the way they have structured things.

Hi John,

What I ended up doing was creating another custom conversion in my ads manager in my non business account. This is the account I'm doing my ads from and I seem to be able to access lookalike audiences and everything from there. I've deleted the custom conversion I recently created (but haven't used yet) out of my business account as it's useless to me as I can't access it in my ads manager.

I can now see the new custom conversion in my ads manager, so it looks like I'm all good to go.

Do you think using this new custom conversion will have an impact on my ads in terms of fb taking a while to optimise for the right people (ie people who confirm) again? Or should I hopefully expect the ideal amount of people to confirm from the outset, which I think is around 80%...?

Thanks,

Karen

Hey Karen

Glad you got it sorted. Just remember that if you plan to upload an audience, you need to have a business account associated with the account you are using. But you will be prompted to do that when you attempt to do so, if it's not already connected.

And yes, creating a new custom conversion will reset many variables, but I wouldn't be afraid of that. It won't likely hurt you in the long run, and could even help.

But regardless, you should see a decent confirmation rate from teh outset. Just always give it 24 hours as some people don't confirm right away.
