Heya John
So I was watching the video where its about promoting the blog post. When you creating the second tier content ton Hubpage, I noticed that you had another alias, Jonathan Drake. When we create second tier content for web properties 2.0 sites, woud you suggets that we create an alias or use our artist name?
Cheers
Segs
Hey Segge,
While many people out there still use this strategy, I no longer do. SEO has changed a LOT since those lessons were created and I just don't think it;s a strategy that makes a lot of sense for musicians any more. You can still do it, and it still works. But your time will be better spent focusing on paid advertising in my opinion. If you really feel that you need a free traffic strategy, I would focus more on the Twitter and Instagram strategies here in the IC.
Hope that helps.

Yes, all that stuff around second tier content and creating a longer blog piece does seem rather time-consuming.
I still will blog as I do like it but just promote via my social media sites and bookmark it on a few sites. I'll defo leave out creating second tier content
I think I like the idea of twitter as that is how you picked me up! Cool will check out the twitter strategy in IC
Cheers
Hey Segge,
I definitely think blogging for engagement is still extremely important. It's crucial. I am just not blogging for search engine traffic any longer.
Good luck with the Twitter strategy. Let us know how you make out.

Hey John,
I was looking at Fiverr and there are numerous people that will create and /or publish SEO articles. Do you know of anyone that has done this? I was also thinking of writing a few things, and having someone optimize it for SEO and publish it.
It seems like a good way to get some content out there at a reasonable price without spending too much time.
Mark
Hi Mark,
Steve here. John will definitely chime in on this too, but I just wanted to let you know that you'll want to do this with a critical eye.
On the one hand it's an inexpensive way to see what kind of quality you're going to get from the articles. On the other hand, you might be getting articles that are considered to be spammy and might be the kind of content that actually gets your site punished by search engines.
So be careful moving forward, but again, this is an inexpensive way to test the waters.
Hi Mark,
As Steve touched on, the best way to drive traffic organically is to create quality content and publish it on a reputable site. Google has made SEO so difficult that there are few short cuts out there these days. That said, I"m happy to take a look at the gig if you want to post it.

Steve and John,
Thanks for weighing in. I'm still looking at the overall picture of things, I would like to do some publishing in the future when I finally get things rolling.
I am asking because I think that to in order to get a fair amount of content going, It may be worthwhile to have some help with article creation.
In terms of getting an article published, what is the best approach?
Mark
Hey Mark,
When trying to get an article published on 3rd party sites you have a few options. You can go through guest blogging networks like http://myblogguest.com/ (there are a number of them out there), or you can simply reach out to individual sites within your niche and approach them about providing them with free content. The latter approach will usually get you higher quality partners, but it;s also harder to pull off. It's a bit of a numbers game.
