Hi ,

I'm Izzy from the band 6 Overdrive. This is my first post btw.

Anyway my band is currently recording a 5 song EP . We kinda completed 2 songs at the moment.

However I'm not so sure on where to make my next step.

Should I finish the EP first , then concentrate on the website and email marketing.

Or I can start on the website right away whilst doing the recording ?

I am currently doing almost everything at the moment , from recording right down to mixing, website and social media promotion.

My band members are non-techie but they are helping me up with the vocals parts and some guitar fills at the moment.

Btw, below is the soundcloud private link to the song that we planned for the squeeze page from this EP

Friends by 6 Overdrive

Please do comment on the song as well.

Any advise would be deeply appreciated.

Thanks.

Hey Izzy,

As long as you have one track that is ready to go, and which you are comfortable giving away, I would start building your base now. Sales are always going to be in direct proportion to the size of your list. So you want to start building that list.

The only thing to consider though is that a person is more likely to buy if you pitch them within the first couple of weeks of subscribing. Wait too long and many will go cold. So it's a bit of a double edged sword. You want to start now so you have time to build that list, but if you are using paid advertising to build your list you want to get the best ROI possible so it might pay to wait until you are a little closer to a release. You need to weigh those to objectives against any potential financial risk.

But it's still a good idea to have the funnel up so that you can benefit from all the real world stuff you might be doing. Shows, etc.

Hope that helps.
