Hi John,
Following on from previous conversations, I have been researching the biggest possible audiences that seem relevant to me. It's been tricky as the slightly quirky acoustic singer-songwriters all seem to have small audiences. Regina Spektor and Feist are the biggest that seem relevant (even though Feist isn't that acousitc really). And I am thinking of going for Laura Marling (smaller audience) too with a smaller budget, which you advised (I am assuming this is so that the fb algorhythm can sort itself out before cycling through too much of the audience, is that the reason?)
Would you mind looking at the stats below and letting me know if you think it's wise to go for it based on these metrics? I have adjusted the numbers in brackets to account for the fact you mentioned the potential reach tool has gone awry (I have noted the difference between fb likes on their page and the 'size' in the targeting of the ad sets). I have also noted the stats after narrowing down to the 4 top countries, (US, UK, Australia, Canada) and ages 25-55. I imagine I will hone in more age wise after this initial campaign, so the audiences will become smaller- perhaps too small?
Regina Spektor – 1.6 million likes
narrows down to 200,000 (600,000 to account for potential reach tool broken) for ages 25-55 in the 4 countries- US, UK, Australia, Canada
Feist- 1m likes?
narrows down to 100,00 (200,000 to account for potential reach tool broken) for ages 25-55 in the 4 countries- US, UK, Australia, Canada
Laura Marling
narrows down to 70,000 (140,000 to account for potential reach tool broken) for ages 25-55 in the 4 countries- US, UK, Australia, Canada
I am thinking of spending £25 a day ($33) on the 2 larger audiences and £15 ($20) on Laura Marling each for 5 days to get some good data. I think I might have to go for traffic for LM (right?) and conversions for the other two.
I've decided to risk spending some of my small savings pot on the above to get good data, understanding that it will probably take some tweaking of various elements before I'm profitable, or on the road to profitability. I can afford to do this experimenting maybe 3 times so just wanting to run it by you to make sure I'm not making any glaring mistakes?
Thanks as ever.
Karen
Hey Karen,
Any of those audiences are fine. Let me establish a new way of approaching this which might help. Don't spend more than $1/day per 10,000 people with a cold audience. So if the audience is estimated at 70,000, limit your budget on that ad set to $7/day. Less is fine as well.
Hope that helps.
