Hi John,

I remember sometime ago you did a podcast or monthly training with Empty Pockets about registering (indie way) for Soundscan or an alternative? Can you point me in the right direction?

Thanks,

Mark

Hey Mark,

I did. The company was called Indie Hit Maker. Unfortunately they got dropped by soundscan recently and are no longer an option. Though, last I saw, their site has not been updated to reflect that.

Your only options right now that I am aware of is to work with a distributor that reports, or to pay the annual fee and sign up as your own label. I believe it's about $500/year. You might try contacting Neilsen to see if they have any better options. Certainly let me know if you find one.

For now, I am personally ignoring charts. A chart position is nice, but at the end of the day, it's not essential.

Having trouble with your marketing? Wish you could have an experienced direct-to-fan marketing expert look over your actual campaigns, music, or content and offer feedback? Or perhaps you’re just looking for a little one-on-one assistance so you can ask questions that pertain to your specific goals and get a second, more experienced, perspective?
