To my knowledge there is no way of reporting your own website sales to soundscan (you can report venue sales though). You can do it with sites like CD Baby and Bandcamp, but then you would need to run all sales through their system which makes any sort of an upsell pretty tricky. You'd need to incentive with a bonus of some sort and ask them to email in their order number. It works, it's just not quite as effective. There is definitely value in charting, if for no other reason than bragging rights. But if income is your main goal then I think one might need to seriously consider just turning their nose to the traditional music industry and just taking sales themselves for maximum profit.
