Hi John,
Emailed you this same thing but figured it be more fun in here, so pls disregard my email.
You've discussed having music on a sales page verses not. In MMM 3.0 you added HTML to have a music player on tge sales page because musicians in 2.0 were complaining that a page w/out a player seems too plain.
In my head, however, it seems like maybe not having a player might sell more records due to the mystery (?)
I dunno, what's your experience?
Cheers and thanks,
Brian
I have clips of my songs on my sales page but I've been thinking that maybe they're too long in duration. They're about 1 minute each. I pretty much have a verse and chorus for each song clip. I'm contemplating reducing the length of each clip to 30 or 40 seconds. I really don't know what would be best. Short clips, long clips or no music clips at all...
I'm curious to know what others think also Brian.
Hey guys,
This is one of those things that is going to differ for every artist. All you can really do is test. One thing you can do is use the A/B script that I give you in the IC lesson on testing and just rotate sales pages. Use different product IDs for each page and pretty quickly you should see a trend start to emerge.
This is just a feeling more than anything based on stats, but my feeling is that if you were to take 100 artists and run a test. more would report doing better without the player. Purely because if a person is on that page they are already ready to buy. And in some cases listening to the music may only cause doubt. That said, for some the music will be the thing that takes the visitor over the edge and leads to the sale.
Testing is the only way to know for sure. Short of that, do what makes the most sense to you when you put yourself in the customer's shoes. I've done it both ways.

Hi y'all,
My previous clips were 30 to 45 seconds at most; the hook or in some cases or the juiciest part of the song. That being said I think in my case the copy on all the pages, the album image and on the blogs will do most of the selling due to the bond, affinity and trust being built.
But in the case of music I'm betting no music in my case will be best... Since I'm including another free song at the end of one or even both of my blogs. Now that I think about it, having more music on the sales page might take their interest away (naturally) from the story being told in the blog, which is really where I want their attention... When they click on the links within the blog, it seems that just an awesome album cover will peak curiosity, and if they don't buy at least they're now familiar with the album cover when they receive the LTO. Testing testing testing.
John I reviewed your IC lesson on using words to sell and I think my story basis is mainly the "Redemption of the Hero". All of the tools including the USP are useful.. But speaking of the A/B script- can I use several split tests at once on multiple pages within the funnel? I will be reviewing the lesson for the answers and details.
I'll be A/Bing a bunch of things on a bunch of pages soon so I appreciate the input.
Thanks guys
Hey Brian,
The split test script is just a link rotater. So you would create two or three pages with only one variable different on each page, and then run traffic to that link and monitor performance results of those pages until you had a clear winner.
Hope that answers your question.

Totally does. Thanks John. I'll touch back when I get it all going.
Sounds good.
