Hey John-
I'm trying to decide on an LTO that makes sense. Since my main offer is going to be for a new EP (6 songs) i don’t want to run a discount. I’m trying to decide between including my last record (12 songs) free or alternatively an EP (5-6 songs) of previously unreleased material. Including the full album is more value but maybe too much?? Thoughts?
p.s. Also, whatever I include in the LTO will probably be in the upsell also (along with 40+ tracks). Should the LTO only include material that is unavailable in the upsell? Does it matter?
and
2) I’m creating some additional blog posts (beyond 1 and 2) to populate my page. Some of these are tied to specific events that have already happened but may be good for social proof. Also, I just want my site to feel somewhat lived in. And to give potential fans more points of connection. How many additional posts would you recommend starting with? is there a sweet spot? And what kinds of things make good Blog posts that are perhaps less involved than a long story...?
Thanks!!
Matt
Hey Matt,
I don't think offering an entire album is too much, but I suppose I do personally like things with symmetry. My feeling is that if people have to stop and think, it can hurt. And there is something about getting a full album for free when you buy an EP (at least when positioned like that), that does make me stop and think a bit. That said, I'm really splitting hairs here and I don't think it's really a problem.
For me though, I like the buy one get one free angle, and would personally probably use the EP. That also leaves you more material for your upsell.
I would not use material in your LTO as part of the upsell. It diminishes the value proposition. I have done it out of desperation, but it's not ideal.
I don't personally have a "sweet spot" in terms of how much content to populate your site with. Just a general "the more the better".

Cool cool. Thanks so much John. I'll probably just offer a 30% discount as my LTO. Keep it clean and simple. Will also leave me a juicier upsell...

Sounds good Matt. Keep us posted.
