Hi John,
I've been listening to the coaching calls daily, i started from the first one and now I am up to 2016. Incredible intel!
Anyway, a couple of times you have mentioned JV mailing lists, either using someone else's list or a list that you buy, and the conversion rates are higher.
I have done some searches and there are seemingly reputable firms that sell lists like "avid music buyers who have purchased music online", or "people who have bought tickets to a country music concert", etc. Some claim that the lists have been opted in.
I realize that DFM is relationship based, so what are your thoughts about buying a list, importing it as a custom audience and running Facebook ads to the list, offering an opt in on a squeeze page? Also, is this permissible under Facebook policy?
Has anyone had experience using purchased lists?
Thanks!
Mark
Hey Mark,
Renting lists is something I used to be more excited about. But I no longer do it. I had too many duds and I think users are just getting more and more sophisticated and a more authentic relationship is needed.
That said, JV partnerships can still be really effective. A JV partnership being where you get someone who has a good relationship with their list to recommend your music. It all comes down to that trust factor. Those big lists that you can rent are typically very low quality by comparison.
