Hi Guys,
Back for another run at this.
Question about setting up products and upsell...
We have two records, a record on streaming (available everywhere) and one only for sale on via Bandcamp (no streaming). Plus we have some demos and unreleased (alt versions etc) box set stuff.
Can you recommend how we should set up our products and upsells? In what order?
Example
1) Start with ---The record out everywhere (streaming) then try and UPSELL the unreleased record and then box set/ bundle?
2) Start with --- The unreleased record and then upsell the one that out everywhere and then a box set /bundle?
We do have hard copies of both records to offer as well.
Thanks,
Mark
Hey Mark,
We may be just using different terminology here but you can't upsell a product that is available for streaming or on bandcamp. You simply don't have control over the customer flow. This is why we create our own sites/funnels.
An upsell is an offer you present someone immediately after their card has been charged. Ideally this would be a one click upsell to reduce friction.
I'm also unclear about the "unreleased" record that you mentioned. Do you just mean unreleased on streaming? Initially you mentioned two albums but both were released.
Can you explain a little more about what assets you have and what your goals are? Streaming is it's own goal and is someone separate from sales. If my goal is as much revenue as possible then I am going to build my campaigns around sales. If my goal is streaming growth then I would build a streaming funnel and retarget the audience for sales. Let me know more about your goals and I can advise.
Can you also let me know what platform you will be using. I saw that you had signed up for TunePipe but it does not look like your account is active any longer. But there are things you can do in TunePipe you can't do on other platforms so I need to know what tools you have at your disposal as well to properly advise.
Cheers.

Hi John,
Sorry I should have been clearer.
Brief background:
I am converting over from the MMM4.0 wordpress model. We have sold a few records (maybe 20) through our old funnel. We paused or stopped any ads early last year. Our Subscriber list at 400.
Following MMM5.0 now and using Tunepipe.
I have added these products to our store.
1) Southern California - album available everywhere including Streaming
2) Self-titled debut - Album - Only available through us (bandcamp- NO streaming services)
3) Box Set stuff -Rarities/Bsides/Unreleased alt versions/Cover song
4) Merch
5) Physical Copies of both 1 & 2
My question is what would you offer for sale first in funnel? Or our sales Page?
Because #1 is available for streaming would you offer #2 then try and upsell #1 and box set stuff? Or the other way around?
Thanks,
We have purchased Tunepipe for the year.
Using advertising our goal is to continue to build our list of subscribers, then release new music to them this summer.
Because our "Southern California" record is available for streaming we are trying navigate the funnel to best optimize what we do have already available, assets that is.
The new record won't be done until this summer yet we do have a NEW song mixed and mastered to add to the asset list.
Streaming is not high on our priority list, yet after the last podcast you did on it, it might be soon.
Long term monetization is the ultimate goal along with being comfortable to communicate regularly with our list. (Something we have not been great at).
Ah, I see. Thanks for clarifying. Looks like you have two projects in the system. One is active and one is not and I was only seeing the one that was not. It looks like the inactive one was created with a typo in the email (it was @gmail.co) and I'm guessing you had trouble accessing it and created a new one? Ok if I delete the other one?
Regardless, thanks for clarifying everything. I'd build your funnel around the album that is not available on streaming and I'd really stress that the album is not available on those services and the only way to get it is there on the page. Then sell the one that is available on streaming as part of your upsell. That tends to be less of a problem then when the album in your funnel is on streaming.
I wasn't trying to suggest that streaming should necessarily be a priority. It's not mine on almost every project, but if it is yours, there is now a path that is consistent with MMM.
Hope that helps.
