Hey John

I've got some investors in and my target for them is 6000 sales of the album by April 30 2018.

I was thinking aside from the sign up and the funnel can we do other things that might generate sales.  For example can I do a Facebook ad that leads to a landing page to the album ( sample) and include a Paypal at the end of the page so that if they really felt the music they can buy there and then.  I can also put a a discount there to create urgency.

I am still doing the funnel but just looking at other ways to sell the product.  In my head I've got it as how we used to sell mixtapes on the streets.  Can't we take a similar approach online?

Cheers

p.s  John and Steve - check the album here fellas!

Hey Segge,

Yes, you can absolutely do that. The way I would do it is to create a custom audience of people who have landed on your thank you page (so you know they are a subscriber) but who have not landed on your LTO page (so you know they have not been exposed to your discount offer) and then run ads to a full price sales page but only to people in that audience.  It's unlikely cold traffic will randomly buy an album so instead I would spend my money on just those people who are already on your list. This approach often works very well.

The sales page can have a player that plays the entire album and a paypal order button below.

I checked out your album (thanks for the link by the way), and my advice would be to use the playlist feature rather than individual players for each song. It's just a little fatiguing right now to scroll through all that info.

Here' how I laid mine out for example: http://www.johnoszajca.xyz/album.

Let me know if I can help with anything else.

Ok thanks John

One of the reasons I laid it out like that was to make it easy for publishers and people looking at using any of the songs for a sync deal.  But I take point about having to scroll down

What plugin did you use for your album?

Cheers

Hey Segs, it's not a plugin at all. It's the default Wordpress player. I just created a "playlist".

...you can still use old fashioned sales techniques, like this guy.

Makes on-line sales seem all the more attractive, in my view, but this just shows that alternatives work and he definitely used the story to the max for PR purposes!

Hey Deb,

Funny enough, many years ago my mantra used to be that "if people can make a living selling knives door to door, surely I can do it selling music". Thank god I found the internet though. Much easier 🙂

Hi Deb

That was a good read!

In a way, it's been something that I've been thinking about how to adapt  selling a mix-cd face to-face towards doing it online.

For example, a link to a page with your product and promotional material with the option to buy/donate.
