Hey John,
Thank you for your speak-pipe message, I will reply ASAP!
Random idea: was just thinking about the start of the LTO, the "You Rock" email. What if I said that in the 1st email they get? Not as the subject line, because that has to be "Here's your stuff" or whatever...
But somewhere in the email maybe I say: "Thanks for signing up! Firstname you rock- Here's your free download link... http://link"
So it kinda plants the seed, and later when they get that 1st LTO email it kind of rings a bell when they see "firstname You Rock!" as the subject.
But more importantly, perhaps their resistance will be down a bit more too, because they're already associating "You Rock" with getting free stuff. Which, essentially they are getting a free album with the purchase of one, for a limited time.
Kinda minor point and chit chatty, but just wanted to throw that idea out there and see what you think! Thanks!
Hey Brian,
You could certainly try it. To my mind, I don't think I like the idea of repeating a headline. I would worry that people would be confused or possibly think it was just recycled content.
Also keep in mind, the "You rock" headline was really just an example included in the course. I'm not suggesting that one should stick so rigidly to those templates. I have seen people use them as-is with success, but I think the more you can insert your own personality, the better. Let us know what you do and how it works for you.

Agreed, I think reusing a headline would be ineffective. I was referring to just saying "you rock" (or whatever the lto headline is)somewhere in the body copy of that 1st email. Kind of forshadowing so to speak.
thats small fries I know.
Like you said- what's important is how it works.
I'll think more on what my version of the "You Rock" headline will be. In fact, that one always confused me a little: what are we trying to really do with that 1st lto headline? Be provocative? Complimentary? Or simply tie it into the offer in a clever way?
Hey Brian,
Re: what are we trying to do with the first headline... With any headline you are just trying to provoke the next action. So if it's an email subject line, the goal is to get them to open. If it's a squeeze page headline the goal is to get them to make them start thinking about subscribing, if it's a sales page the goal is to make them want to buy. We have a pretty big bag of triggers we can pull from to accomplish those things. The original "You rock" headline was about making the email be about them so they would continue reading and click. But you could be creating curiosity, driving home scarcity, anything really...

Got it. Simply provoke the next action. thanks John!
Any time 🙂

Thanks man!
I just finished up a blog intended to be the 1st in my "Ben Harper/Jack Johnson/Dave Matthews" funnel.
Would you please thumb through it and let me know if it hits the mark or not? Or if there's any blaring things I should change? BTW the links in the blog are to videos, still putting together an album sales page
I know you're an alt. country guy, but I think you're as qualified as anyone could be to quickly critique a "folk/pop singer/songwriter" kinda blog:

Thanks John!
I only scanned it, but I focused on the first paragraph, and I think you did all the right things. Reads well. Only thing I would do is include an image along the lines of what we have talked about. Full width, at the top of the page. I also think you might be able to spruce up the site a tad. Might just need a more congruent logo.

Thanks man right on, I will def. make those changes. My photo shoot with a pro photographer is scheduled for Friday, so I'll have a spread of numerous branded and consistent photos for my blogs, ads, retargeting image, upsell image and squeeze page.. Stoked.
I made a rough draft for my new squeeze page. Only thing missing is a fresh photo from the upcoming shoot, and copy edits of course, which I'd love you to weigh in on.
The 3rd quote is a little rambly, but I love Mr. Sivers' enthusiasm so I kept it word for word, but that and any other paragraphs you see need trimming please be blunt. I think it's a little long, but I like all the copy:

PS I'll change the URL when it goes out to cold traffic
Looks pretty good. The sentence "Late-Night Firepit Acoustic Vibes’ Singer/Songwriters Touring Now" might be a bit cluttered and confusing, but I think the imagery is right. Derek's quote doesn't bother me at all. Good stuff.

Totally cluttered headline. How's this sound:
"Crack a Beer, Get All Cozy and Grab a FREE Download from One of the Most Chill, Soulful Songwriters~ Feels Like Friends Around The Firepit Enjoying Good Music And Positive Vibes."
Sorry to be annoying, but honestly, I think that still sounds really cluttered. It;s like two thoughts slamming into each other.
What about something more like... "Listening To Brian Roger's New Single Will Transport You To A Warm Summer Evening Around The Fire Pit With Friends. Crack A Cold One And Enjoy One Of The Most Soulful Singer Songwriter's In A Very Long While!"
If that looks like too man words on the page then you might just end with "Crack A Cold One And Enjoy!" and remove "One Of The Most Soulful Singer Songwriter's In A Very Long While!".
Just taking a stab, mind you. I can't promise that will convert. But it reads better to my mind.

Not annoying, very much appreciated that you care. That's a great headline, def.will put that in the hopper- thank you. Here's another option:
"Cozy up with friends, light the firepit and cue the backyard speakers to play the most chill, soulful Brian Rogers music available for FREE now! so crack some beers and celebrate!"
What at do you think?
It's not bad. Cozy isn't a word that would do much for my brain and there is still a little something cluttered in there to my mind. I also feel like celebrate might be a little too over the top for a new visitor. But hey, split test both and see what happens.

Understood. Thanks man, I really appreciate your help
So not the picture we're gonna use because the photographer's still editing that, but she gave me this silhouette in the meantime... I also used the headline you wrote and added the player you suggested:
I applaud your diligence man. You don't mess around. I make a few suggestions and bam, you've got a new record, a new photo shoot, and new copy on a new squeeze page. Impressive. I hope I haven't steered you in the wrong direction... doh!
To me it looks really great. I think you definitely need a picture in which we can see your face and what you look like. But the vibe is right, I like the headline (If I do say so myself) and this is one of the few times I thing the player might help. You might want to split test that though. The only thing is that I might just use a snippet. 30 or 45 seconds. Wait till the song just gets good, give it a sec, and fade out. Leave them wanting more.
Start by split testing Dave Mathews and Jack Johnson (at least as my best guess).
Let us know how it goes.

Thanks John, that's nice to hear from you, means a lot! No steering in the wrong direction, it's all a process. I was bummin about the Eccentric Bass Rock funnel a couple months ago, and then I said screw that and started focusing on gratitude:
I was thankful for the Bass video because I learned so much about iMovie putting it together
I was thankful for getting more comfortable here in the forum because of the bass funnel
I was thankful for learning to be more comfortable with the tech. aspects of setting up a funnel through creating the bass funnel
Then BAM! It suddenly hit me, this idea to shift my focus towards this kind of music. Every since, you've been giving me nothing but golden suggestions and ways to shine up my presentation. I am very appreciative of your expertise, and to my mind I'd be foolish not to take quick action when getting help from a guy with your musical skill, and marketing prowess.
Thank you John O!
