Hello I am Skarlet Blak a female hip hop artist and I am having a little bit of trouble with my headline on my squeeze page and John suggested I start here and try to get some ideas on a headline that will appeal to Wiz Khalifa fans. If you aren't familiar with Wiz Khalifa I can tell you that he is a laid back hip hop artist known for being a Marijuanna connoisseur I'll post his latest video below. My website is http://www.skarletblakmusic.com you can listen to my latest single at http://www.soundcloud.com/skar.....all-I-need if you need to hear me to get a better creative visual.  Thank you for your help in advance it is greatly appreciated.

Hey Skarlet my name is Brian. I had an idea based on some past help I got from John on my headline:

"Kick back, light up a blunt and grab a FREE download from the most laid back hip-hop artist to puff one and flow deep poetry since Wiz Khalifa..."

That's an idea at least... Maybe too heavy on the weedLaugh

Hey, sorry for the slow response on this Skarlet. As I read your post I was starting to put a headline together in my head that is very similar to what Brian offered up. But I think Brian's is better than what I had 🙂

Whether or not that is the exact headline that ultimately works for you, I think that's the right idea. With that headline, you get a very specific sense of what the music will be like, and what the artist who is making the offer is like. And that's the goal.

Now you just need to make sure your ad lines up with both your targeting, and the claim made on your squeeze page. Why don't you offer some ad copy up and we can see if we can offer any suggestions. What do you have as a starting point for the ad copy to go along with this new squeeze page copy?

Having trouble with your marketing? Wish you could have an experienced direct-to-fan marketing expert look over your actual campaigns, music, or content and offer feedback? Or perhaps you’re just looking for a little one-on-one assistance so you can ask questions that pertain to your specific goals and get a second, more experienced, perspective? News feed link description: Chill, Roll up your list of regrets and grab a free download from the most lyrical hip hop artist to kick deep poetry since Drake... Squeeze Page: http://www.skarletblakmusic.co.....ack-drake/

Glad to hear you're getting a lot out of the IC.

A couple of thoughts...

You might run into trouble with the word joint in anything to do with your FB ad. I'm not sure to be honest, but you might want to speak a little more metaphorically. IE, blunt, herb, etc. And maybe save it for the squeeze page rather than the ad itself.

You might try:

 Wiz Khalifa Fan?

Text: Get a free track from most laid back hip hop artist since Wiz...

I'd remove the link description and add the "learn more" button.

Keep in mind, that's just one persons thoughts/reactions. There is no telling what will ultimately get the best results until you test.

Okay will update the ad I have Download now as the call to action button is the learn now call to action more successful than download button in the ads you've tested?

I haven't tested it outright, but in a conversation I had with an ad rep, she suggested I go with it, and it's been working pretty well for me. But you could try either one.

John I was literally just replacing out words from your exact headline haha! Skarlet I love the forum too, I actually wrote another headline for myself after giving the suggestion for yours so thanks for the inspiration!

"Relax, light an incense and Click Download to get free music from the most lyrical female hip hop artist to flow deep poetry since Lauryn Hill!" That was my favorite copy Smile

John that's interesting about the learn more button, I'll have to try that. I always thought that if you can get away with the download button in the ad it lines up nicely with the free download offered in the squeeze page. But I guess if you have a good squeeze page that's all that matters.

Yeah, I always figured the download button made sense too. And like I say, I haven't directly split tested it so it very well might do better in some cases. But if you think about it, "download now" tips your hat to the purpose of the ad, and some people may still be hesitant and thinking " who is this person?". If you say "download now" the question becomes "do I want to download something from this person?". And that early in, the answer may still be no. But that's just me being a geek and making a lot of assumptions.

I had once split tested with and without the download button and got a slightly better result without it. But when I added "learn more" in a different campaign it did better. But all was not equal between the two campaigns so it's not all that conclusive.

Yeah it does tip your hat-- I was kinda surprised my ad did well with the download button on it with that bass musician mag. audience... so I guess maybe they're OK with downloading something from me but need to see and hear some bass playing first. I Gotta test that video on the squeeze page...

I changed from download button to learn more button today and clicks have slightly gone up from yesterday driving the traffic tommy site but still not opt ins I am going to try uploading a small video where my photo is currently at with just a photo they are clicking the most from Facebook ad and ad a snippet of audio maybe they feel they want to hear me first before they give me their email so I will test that and see if that gets me conversions. Great idea Brian you are probably right.

It could also be your target audience. Sometimes we think one audience will convert but we are simply wrong. Have you had any luck with those other target audiences?

Also, have you customized your aweber confirmation message and thank you page? If the language is wrong those can really scare people off sometimes. Perhaps post what each says here?

After adding the video and changing one picture I got 3 opt ins today? from Wiz Khalifa audience none from Lauryn hill or Drake artist yet it was a picture I uploaded for shits and giggles and it got me those opt ins I am still kind of shocked.

Since I'm closing out day 2 and only one ad set has started converting should I continue or shut off the non covering ad sets?

Haven't gotten any subscribers today I even upped my budget to $50 a day I absolutely have no idea who else I could compare myself to there is not a female hip hop artist out right now that sounds anything like me so I am targeting men artist not sure if that's the issue because I got 2 subscribers yesterday after making the adjustments we came up with in this forum and it worked yesterday. I honestly don't know what else I can do to get more subscribers at this point but I know I can't get anywhere with a $9-$15 Cost per conversion rate.

Hey Skarlet,

Yeah, something is off here. These are uncommonly pour results for a campaign that looks and sounds as if you are doing everything right. I am wondering if you may be onto something there with the fact that you are targeting fans of male artists. My feeling is that female rap is kind of it's own thing and while you may have more in common artistically with certain mail artists, the fact that your voice and vibe is female may mean that your audience is just different. Often we see ourselves one way, but the outside world sees us differently. I think that may be the case here, as a female artist. Especially in a genre where the personality behind the music is such a major factor.

I would be curious to see what happens if you targeted a female rap artist. I would just pick whoever you think is closest, regardless of whether you think it's a good match. And I'd be sure to change the ad and squeeze page copy to line up with your new targeting. I'd pause everything else for the time being and minimize your budgets to no more than $20 or $30 a day until we get this sorted.

If this new targeting is still off, I may ask you to connect me to your ad account temporarily so I can look over what might be wrong here. There's always a way to turn things around. But this one is a head scratcher so far.

Gotcha. I reached out to a few older hip hop heads and got that to them I remind them of a Remy Ma as far as rawness and Queen Latifa as far as consciousness I would've NEVER thought of those two lol. So I created this wording for squeeze page let me know what you think :

“Raw like a Lil Kim or Remy Ma and conscious like a Lauryn Hill, listening to Skarlet Blak is like talking to your home girl when you need a shoulder or a little motivation. Grab 3 FREE downloads from the most relate-able artist to flow in awhile...”
