Bonjour!
I hope you guys are doing well. I just stumbled upon this article about releasing music one song at a time, forgetting about the album format and was wondering what you guys thought about it ?
I'm curious on hearing your perspective on things.
Thanks for your time,
Eric John Kaiser

Hey Eric,
I've heard quite a few people make this point over the last few years, and I think it's valid if you are following more of the traditional model that (at least these days) relies more on touring and licensing to generate income. But as a direct response marketer I am personally focused on making sales and running advertising at a profit. For that to work I need to have a product I can actually sell for a decent price point. And so for me, I think albums are still a necessity. I also personally like them as an artistic statement/cohesive work.
But I think both perspectives are valid. Just depends how you are approaching things.

Hi Eric,
Thanks for the article. Definitely an interesting perspective.
One of the things that troubles me about releasing only singles is that it's really tough to turn a profit on selling only a single, especially when paying for traffic. Although, while I do like the idea of keeping fans engaged one track at a time, I'd rather see artists selling their music and as John has said a bunch of times, it's just as much work to sell a single as an album, so you might as well go for the higher potential for ROI.
