Hi!  John is it possible to create the squeeze page with just one single as the free download and not sell an album yet?  Basically I want to get fans while I am still creating an album and then try to sell to them later if that makes sense.

Hi Richard,

Steve here.  Yes, you can certainly do that.  Generally speaking, you're likely to see higher conversions on the squeeze page with a more compelling offer, but sure, you can try to offer just one single for download.

One thing to keep in mind is to try to not let your list go cold, while you are waiting to release the album.  Try to keep them engaged.

Let us know how you make out.

Thanks for chiming in Steve. Hey Richard. Like Steve said, the more compelling the free offer, the better. With that aid, one track is fine. In fact, that is what I do on the majority of the campaigns I work on.

But like Steve mentioned, the longer a person is on your list without buying something from you, the lower the likeliness they will become a customer. It's kind of like dating. The relationship needs to go to the next level within a reasonable amount of time, or it becomes less likely it ever will. Know what I mean? It's a bit of a balancing act. I recommend that people with nothing to sell right away, go into a sort of testing mode, in which they spend something minimal, like $5/day. With no expectation of making their money back. But purely to test things out and get a handle on the metrics. Then, once you have all those metrics you need you can wait until two or three months before your album comes out and really ramp up your ad spend to grow your list fast, without the last minute learning curve.

Hope that all makes sense.
