Hi John,
I've been running the funnel support camapign as per MMM 3/4.0 to retarget new subs to make sure they are exposed to those first two blog posts and the LTO.. below is a screenshot how it has been playing out. As you can see I'm just not getting that flow on exposure with the LTO ads.. they're must be something not quite right in the setup of these last two adverts that not right.. What are your thoughts? cheers :~)
It's hard to say from just a screen shot.
It the screen shot those other two ads don't look to be turned on.
I can't see in that shot, but these look to be ads rather than ad sets. Have you created a unique ad set for each audience or do you have all of your ads running within one ad set? If it's the latter that will be your problem. You want a unique ad set for each audience/ad or they will cancel each other out.
It's also important for me to know how long you have been running things as it's possible the traffic just hasn't had time to become eligible for the audience.
Looking at your cost per click (which is pretty high), you might want to start by changing your bidding so there is a frequency cap on the ads. This will cut down on your traffic, but also cut down on your waste, and therefore your costs. If that doesn't bring prices down, you may want to look at trying to improve the ads.
Also, how much are you bidding per day on each ad.

Hi John
Yes a seperate ad set was created for each ad set.. the screen shot is of just the ads (one for each ad set).
The screen shot is also of the life of the campaign which I ran for 3 months. I turned this off about 3 weeks ago & setup a new one to see if it makes any difference... but so far the same pattern has emerged.
Each budget for each ad set was set for $5 per day (my new campaign has been set at $2 per day)
The other thing that's really puzzling is that ads 3 & 4 aren't getting reach & impressions.. anything I can check for to see what might be causing that?
Cheers.. :~)
I would try putting a frequency cap on the ads to start with.
Scroll down to "Optimization for Ad Delivery" and then select "daily unique reach". That will limit things to one impression per user per day. You can raise your budget without risk of spending to much while also keeping your frequency way down. But you will also lose a few clicks, while saving on wasted impressions.
If those LTO ads are not getting impressions it is likely either because the ads themselves did so bad out of the gate that FB stopped delivering to them, or it is because there is an error in the audiences you created. I wouldn't be able to diagnose without looking.
It's also possible that you just have so little traffic making it to the pre LTO content that there are not enough people in that audience to register with FB.

OK I've set the "daily unique reach" in place for all the ads..
In regards to ads #3 & #4 that aren't getting any reach or impressions here's how they have been set up:
Ad #3 => Custom Audience "seen Blog #2 post but not seen LTO page"
- Includes People who have visited url = blog post #2 (past 15 days)
- Excludes People who have visted url = LTO discount page (past 15 days)
OR
- Excludes People who have visited url = step 1 page (past 15 days)
*note: the campaign which ran for 3 months (as per image attached in first message) was set at "past 10 days" .. I changed this to 15 days with the new campaign I set up a couple of weeks ago to see if it might help the cause but it has not helped it seems.
Ad #4 => Custom Audience "seen LTO offer page but not seen step 1 page" (in other words haven't purchased)
- Includes People who have visited url = discount page (past 5 days)
- Excludes People who have visted url = step 1 page (past 10 days)
*It's worth noting that both these audiences still show up as "audience too small"..
I'm now approaching 1,000 new subscribers coming through my funnel.. but somehow they're not getting exposed to these offer pages with this setup.. appreciate your suggestions.. thx again :~)
Just to be clear, did you create a brand new campaign with the new setting? I would not just edit the existing one. This campaign is way to established and your pour quality score will carry over. You can just duplicate the campaign though, to save you time.
Your targeting sounds right. It may just be that the audience is too small because with 1000 subs over 90 days that can mean that at any given time there are only 20 people in the audience or so, and that assumes everyone is moving all the way through your funnel (which they are not). That is incredibly small by FB audience standards. So it may just be that FB can literally only find a couple of people in that audience at any given time.
If that continues to be the case, you may want to scrap this approach for now, and just go with a general retargeting ad that targets everyone who has engaged with any page on your site but is not on your customer list, or in your customer audience (based on the pixel). Then, when your traffic picks up you can use the funnel ads approach.
But I would probably run this new campaign with the adjusted bidding first, just to see what happens.
