Hi forum,
I'm thinking about setting up a new mini-site to get more free traffic. Looking for some feedback on keywords and domain names to consider purchasing soon.
I'm wondering if the keyword "American music" might be a good one to shoot for: 8,100 average monthly searches and "low" competition. At least one of the sites on the first page of a google intitle search for "american music" has 0 backlinks to report, according to backlinkwatch.com. (The site is http://www.americanmusicusa.com).
I'm sure I really have no idea who is googling "American music" 8,100 times every month, but maybe some of them are interested in orchestra music and/or piano music and would sign up for my list. I also looked at "American Classical music," but by comparison this keyword gets only 320 average monthly searches, which I worry might be too little return for the investment of time and energy required to set up and maintain a site like this.
Been looking at domain names and I'm wondering if anyone can offer feedback (all are available for $12.99):
american-music-online.org
american-music-center.org (available, but makes me worry a little about infringement claims from amc.net)
i-love-american-music.org
i-heart-american-music.org
american-music-digest.org
american-music-guide.org
american-music-companion.org
friends-of-american-music.org
american-music-encyclopedia.org
american-music-circle.org
american-music-history.org
Is this a good keyword to shoot for? Any of these domain names stand out as better than others?
Ezra
Hey Ezra, I may be wrong, but my personal feeling is that people Googling a term like that are Americana fans and would be looking for roots music for the most part and classical would be a bit of a disconnect for the average visitor. I would personally be looking for terms more specific to your genre. That's just my feeling.
