Hi John,
Thanks to your previous response. I'm just about to turn my new ads on, but I wanted to first turn off the confirmed opt in on Aweber, as I noticed from my previous test run that I lost quite a few people who didn't confirm.
I seem to remember you or Steve saying that it's possible to turn off the confirmed opt-in once there has been some Aweber acitivity. Under the confirmation message in my Aweber account, I don't have the same options that you seem to have in lesson 10 on the video (please see screen shot) - I.e the bit where is says 'require opt in' with a button to switch it off. It just says 'why is a confirmation message necessary?' and to contact customer solutions with any questions. So...
1. What do you advise?- contact them and ask them to turn it off?Â
2. Will this mean that Aweber automatically sends them the email with the downloads, or do I have to set something up again to make sure the right inital email is fired off ?
3. I am based in Europe so do I need to weight anything up on the GDPR front with this or is this a minor concern? (Appreciate you need to cover your ass but what are your thoughts?)
Thanks,
Karen

This is a new, and seemingly inconsistent thing that Aweber is doing to stop people from setting up accounts and quickly uploading a bunch of subscribers that didn't ask to be on their list, and then spamming them. They turn it off once some history is established. I would definitely just call them. Their phone support is great and I think there is a good chance they can just turn it on for you. They can at least offer more clarity on when they cant urn it on.

Once you are able to turn off the confirmation your subscribers will be redirected to your confirmation page and immediately get the first welcome email.Â

Because this is a legal matter I need to stress that I am not qualified to give legal advice. I can tell you that what I have done in an effort to be GDPR compliant is create a new privacy policy using https://dsgvo-muster-datenschu.....e/?lang=en (it's free). The services you use like Aweber and Paypal are all already compliant. If you want to be 100% you are compliant with laws in the EU you would need to speak with a lawyer.
All the best.

Thanks John it was really simple when I phoned Aweber :).
Ads are running again, using dynamic creative, with more images that I've been working on which I'm happy about as they seem to be out- performing most of the old images...
Starting to get lovely messages. Got an email today saying that I've birthed a new fan, and that he was filled was 'cautious awe', ha!Â
Will keep you posted :).
That's so cool Karen. I love hearing that kind of stuff.Â
Hey, awkward question, is there anyway you would mind letting me use some form of that in a testimonial? The fan quote that is? I think it really captures the spirit of this whole thing. When you can take action all on your own and spark new relationships (and a bit of magic) like that, I think it's just so rewarding. It's something that most musicians just don't know how to do without help from a label, or without touring.
No problem at all if for any reason you'd rather not. Zero pressure. It was just a cool quote.

Hey John,
Sure, you can use the fan quote- happy if it can help you. This was the email:
'And just like that you've birthed a fan....just on the strength of Sapling. I'll be alert to your happenings from here. Thanks for sharingÂ
Thanks Karen, it needs a little more context from you so readers know what you are referring to. I'll just wait until you're happy with your funnel's performance. If you want to send something in then, that would be great. Keep me posted.
