Now that Halloween is over it's that time of year to start discussing how to market your music during the Holidays. What are some things that have worked for you all? Christmas music is the only genre that has not seen any declines in sales, so obviously there are lots of opportunities out there. I have a Christmas album that I released last year that I've had a little bit of success with, so I'm looking for ways to expand this year. I've heard of a childrens music artist who worked out a deal with the local santa at the mall to hand out his CD to the kids, which the mall prepaid for. I've heard of other artists who have had success playing live at malls and bookstores. There's of course Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales we can take advantage of. Christmas cover songs on You Tube or house concerts perhaps. Any ideas?

Hey Doug,

You've outlined a lot of good ideas there yourself :-)

My own personal opinion is that it's a great "reason" to run a promotion. IE, a discount for the holidays. Maybe buy one and get a second one free. two gifts for the price of one and you'll ship to two different addresses, or email the download link on Christmas morning... Or whatever you feel you can manage.

As you also touched on, I think it's a great opportunity for Joint Ventures (like the Santa handing out an album example) or even possibly live, dedicated, online events for specific site audiences.

The sky is the limit really. Just need to be creative. Good that you're thinking about it now though.

I'm planning looking at my christmas plans too, currently planning to have a Holiday show online through stageit, also I have a christmas song that I'm finishing up a new recording of to release.  I also am working on a bundle with my mom, an independent published writer, where we will sell my music along with her books.

I've done a lot of christmas performing in the past, and am open to new show opportunities.  I think it would be rad to create a christmas tradition of a christmas show over here in SAcramento where I'm from.  Still exploring possibilities.

I think a Christmas Stageit show sounds like a great idea.
