I have used both Aweber and Infusionsoft with other businesses. Is anyone here familiar with both of these systems? I am considering whether the Infusionsoft system, using tags instead of lists, might be a better method than Aweber; possibly simpler, less tedious to implement, more flexibility? I am trying to decide which one to use for my music sales funnel. As an Aweber list grows, the price will eventually reach that of Infusionsoft's higher price, so I am not too worried about that aspect of it.
Thanks, Kevin
Hey Kevin,
I have only ever plaid with infusionsoft so my opinion is only worth so much, but I think infusionsoft is actually a better solution. That said, I think the pricing is just WAY to high for the average musician. They start at $200/month for just 2500 contacts and you are limited as far as how many emails you can actually send each month. I have around 40,000 Aweber contacts and pay around $100/month less than the 10,000 contact package infusionsoft offers. With some of their previous pricing I have seen then things would eventually catch up like you mentioned, but an artist would spend THOUSANDS of dollars until that happened, and with the current pricing the have posted I don't know if it would ever really happen. And at the end of the day, aweber can get the job done. All be it a tad clunkier because they don't have the tagging options that infusionsoft has, nor do they include a shopping cart, which admittedly is nice.
With price taken into consideration I think it's the best solution for indie musicians, and for that reason I stick with it. I personally feel I need to use the solution I recommend

Thanks John, good feedback,
And by the way, the Infusionsoft shopping cart, and web pages, I don't even use them, because, as of this date, they are still 1) not mobile responsive, and 2) the formatting is not even close to something like Optimize Press or Lead Pages. Very disappointing, but perhaps they will kick it up a notch soon.
So, because I am just using it as an e-mail processor, I guess the only needed comparison would be, Infusionsoft tags are easier than Aweber Lists, but Aweber prices are much lower overall.
Just trying to decide for myself, and maybe add some clarity for others who are considering both.
Thanks, Kevin
Thanks Kevin, I didn't know about the lack of mobile responsiveness. So you're saying infusionsoft doesn't use infusionsoft for checkout? How odd is that?
Let us know what you ultimately decide. For me, I'm happy with Aweber.

Another resource to consider is ActiveCampaign. It is sort of a half step between Aweber and Infusionsoft; you can use tags and set up automation sequences but it doesn't have the shopping cart and pages etc. that Infusionsoft does. AC is priced to compete with Mailchimp and Aweber, but the ability to automate and use tags gives AC the nod in my book.
I've used both Infusionsoft and Aweber over the years (currently back with Aweber, mainly because of the cost). Aweber recently introduced the concept of Infusionsoft-style "campaigns", which will eventually replace their traditional follow-up sequences. The campaign builder is very similar to Infusionsoft's, and you can add and remove tags, move people from one list to another based on the actions they take, etc. This isn't quite as valuable without being integrated into your shopping cart (like it would be with Infusionsoft), but it's a huge step in the right direction.
Hey Donnie,
My apologies for the slow response. I've been largely offline for the holidays. Just getting back to work now.
Those last posts were a couple years old, but yeah, Aweber seems to be inching closer and closer to working more similarly to infusionsoft. And while I think infusionsoft is probably a "better" platform. The high cost and complexity just doesn't make it the platform of choice for the average musician. At least in my opinion. There's a reason every IS user I know calls it ConfusionSoft 🙂
