"Emails that include social sharing buttons have a 158% higher click-through rate."
That is interesting. I know you prefer plain text messages (and I agree with that), but how do you feel about plain text Looking e-mail (still HTML, but no flashy graphics or banners--just regular Arial font text) that also has a Share link? I wouldn't do that on the cold lead list but maybe invite people to share your squeeze page on social media in a post-sales follow-up autoresponder series?
I'm Already using "Share us on FB/Twitter" buttons on the page you run into after confirming the Aweber sale. They're, I feel, more likely to tell their friends about someone they've gotten to know and like well enough to buy your stuff than just random people hitting the blog, or other advertising. And it builds in new (possibly high quality) traffic to that sales page, I'm thinking...
Thoughts?

Really interesting article about email stats:http://blogs.salesforce.com/co.....stats.html
Enjoy.
Hey Dairenn,
My only issue with the html email that looks like a plain text email is that it often displays "having trouble viewing this email" in the sneak peak line of an email inbox. That is a dead giveaway for me that it's not a personal email and when I see that I just delete, if I'm busy and don't have time for emails, which is usually the case. That's why I son't personally do that. But if you can do it in a way that it doesn't display that line I have no issue with it. So long as your emails are still getting good open rates.
My issue with social icons in an email is just that it's an opportunity to be distracted, so I will personally continue to avoid it.
As for a social sharing follow up email... That's a fine option.
