Hey John,

Listening to the training module this month I'm unclear how my subscribers are making the actual LTO purchase from me (of the one cd to get both.) Do I create a landing page where I accept their payment via paypal or something like that? I remember you covered how to host the free download so you may also have covered receiving payments in another training.

If so can you point me towards it?

Many thanks!

Julianna

Julianna,

The best answer I can give you is to use paypal, but only because I don't use Cdbaby or any other retail site.  I just use paypal.

If you are using paypal, you can simply create a payment button (inside of paypal) that will take them to checkout for the product for both cds at whatever price you set.

The lto script itself should expire the page at your deadline, which means they won't be able to see that payment button after the expiration.

In paypal you can create a unique payment button for each and every offer.  This means that if there is a buy one get one half off, you can create a button for it at that price and paypal will notify you and clearly indicate which product was ordered.

Hey Julianna,

As Steve mentioned, Paypal is definitely the easiest way to do it. But if you don't want to take orders yourself you can just create a landing page with instructions and link to CD baby. In the instructions you would tell people to make sure they tick the box to pass on their email address. That means that CD Baby will email you their email address and you can then send them the free music downloads within 24 hours. Just make sure you explain that. You might make short video or include some screen shots for people so it's clear. Sounds more difficult than it actually is.

Having trouble with your marketing? Wish you could have an experienced direct-to-fan marketing expert look over your actual campaigns, music, or content and offer feedback? Or perhaps you’re just looking for a little one-on-one assistance so you can ask questions that pertain to your specific goals and get a second, more experienced, perspective?
