In the February 2015 lesson we’re going to go back to fundamentals and discuss Funnel Dynamics. I’m going to give you an overview of a funnel in it’s entirety and discuss how to optimize it for maximum profit. This lesson essentially takes all the important lessons learned from MMM as well as the Insider Circle and rolls them into one bight size lesson.

Watch the lesson here:

Great overview of the process. Seeing it splayed out gave me an eagle eye perspective which lead me to new future and present action plans. Two differences I noticed in the flow chart in this lesson verses the flow chart used in the MMM funnel is the

1.Retargeting. In MMM (if I remember correctly), we go straight from the 2nd blog post to the LTO sent the next day. and

2. the amount of blogs you suggest we send them before emailing them the LTO.

In the current flow chart we go from the last blog they get to 3 or 4 days of sales page retargeting, with no LTO in their inbox during that time. Then, after retargeting the sales page for a couple days we email them the LTO? Also I think you mentioned adding a 3rd or 4th blog to the funnel which is a new addition to the funnel flow of MMM. Is this right?

Great lesson. It's good to be reminded how all the steps fit together and the importance of seeing the funnel as a whole system rather than a 'pick and mix' of different actions.

I also benefitted from from the discussion of retargeting, and the simplification of metrics which can otherwise get very complex and confusing.

Thanks for taking the time to put this together. I will definitely be printing out the flow chart too.

Hey Brian, I think there might be a small amount of confusion here... I'm never trying to suggest a specific number of blog posts you should have. This should vary for everyone. It's really all about how long it takes you to create the desire so that you can then ask for the sale. That can vary for everyone, what I did in MMM was simply one possible layout. And the fact that I had two icons for blog posts in this flow chart purely had to do with it correlating to interest and desire. It was to suggest that you should only send two blog posts. I'm not following where the 3rd or 4th blog post came into it.

As for retargeting, again, that was just one possible way to do it. The way I laid out was an advanced funnel using retargeting in an advanced way. In truth I usually just use retargeting to push the main offer and I don't set it up nearly as advanced as I laid it out in the flow chart. I think the way I laid it out is technically better, but I tend to like things simple. Hope that makes sense.

Hey John,

Cool. That does make sense. I was taking the 2 blogs literally while missing the point that its however many it takes to build that bond and build that desire. And oh yeah I dunno where I got 3 or 4 blogs, I thought I heard you say it but I was also on little sleep and might have been hearing things.

As for the retargeting, I can see how thats an advanced strategy - which I appreciate you sharing it: good to aim for.

The MMM layout rocks too. I think in the end its whatever works for me and I'll have to test these many methods available to me. Cheers.

Sounds good. Just to clarify... I wasn't trying to say that retargeting is an advanced strategy, just that retargeting every single element of your funnel is a little advanced. I am always retargeting, but I do so in a simpler way. I just create one ad that takes people to my main, full priced, offer, and I retarget everyone who has been on my blog and my thank you page. And I cookie people for the full 6 months. But you can approach retargeting any way you want.

Thanks for the lesson John!

I really like your sleek flow chart. I went back through my funnel and there was certainly a lot to fix, so I've been updated several things. I'm glad you did this lesson, or I might not have caught a few things that needed to be fixed.

Paid advertising through Facebook has always worked the best for me as well. I'll try to get some more advertising going and let you know how it goes. Thanks a bunch!
