Congrats! You’re On The Inside.

Welcome to the Music Marketing Insider Circle! Please watch the introductory video below to get up to speed.

In short, the Insider Circle was created to kick things up a notch and take Music Marketing Manifesto to the next level.

While Music Marketing Manifesto teaches you the fundamentals of marketing, driving traffic, and creating a sales funnel, the Insider Circle will be teach you additional ADVANCED strategies, and keep you on the cutting edge of this rapidly changing industry.

I hope to make this your one-stop-shop for music marketing intelligence, training, and networking.

But always remember, there are no magic bullets out there people. Every artist is different and results will vary significantly. By following the strategies discussed in the Insider Circle you are not guaranteed any specific income or results.

That being said, everything discussed here is the REAL DEAL, and this stuff really does work. So get to it!

I’ll see you in the forum!

    Hello Everyone,

I’ve already said hello on the main member’s page, but I just wanted to introduce myself to the insider circle as well! My band and I are excited to start the course and to utilize all of the tools the insider circle has to offer. Here’s the introduction I posted to the main comment section:

I am a singer/songwriter/producer/multi-instrumentalist. I write, record, and perform with my brother JJ Bower and childhood friend Nick “Levi” Pulaski in the Brandon Bower Band. We were born and raised in Augusta, GA but currently reside in Virginia Beach, VA. Our soulful, funky, and uplifting music spans many genres.

I have made a living since 2000 solely from performing live music. I am looking forward to bringing our web presence/music marketing up to par with our musicianship and live performance. We have not yet tapped our potential to sell our music, and we can’t wait to get more of our music into the hands of people that would enjoy it.

You can find some more info, audio, and video at http://brandonbower.com

I’m Patrick Murray a musician from Halifax NS in Canada. I signed up for MMM and insider circle. I’ve had decent success with my first album released last year using alot of techniques learned form Indiebandbible but I wanted to tap into the online market more. I love performing, writing, producing and even packing up gear at the end of the night. I am generally skeptical in nature but willing to read and try new things. In the end at least I can gather some experience. Alot of people tell me they love my music but don’t buy it online. Just trying to shorten that gap. If I get network with some people and learn some things all good. I write alot of material including songs that don’t necessarily fit in my genre of folk rock, roots pop but may end up recording them under aliases.

  • Brent Johnston says:

    Hey gang,

I joined the Insider’s Circle a few days ago. Just now getting to give my introduction.

I play guitar and sing in a 3 piece hard rock/heavy rock/ heavy metal band. Us three members of the band are brothers (same mother, same father). I do the vast majority of the songwriting but both my brothers are very creative musically and artistically. Been in this business since the 80’s and have done a lot of gigging and the whole music biz thang.

Hoping to scratch and claw my way up the ladder to achieve a decent level of success that I can be satisfied with. It used to be that being at the very top of the rock world, being the most famous and the most successful band in the world was my goal but after
years of broken dreams I’ve come to realize that I can still be happy with a much more modest level of success. Life has humbled me but I continue fighting to make something happen with my music.

I’ve been using MMM 3.0 since last October and I just signed up to the Insider’s Circle as well as John’s Music Ads Workshop. I have faith in the information that I’ve received from John. I just need to work my ass off now to make it all come together.

    Here’s my band’s Squeeze page http://www.damnwickedband.com/

Good Luck to everyone and Thank you John

And I’m sorry I meant John’s marketing tips!

  • J.Dub says:

Hello evryone! My name is J.Dub and I’m glad to be apart of this site. My goal is to become the next Online Music Mogul. I believe I can learn everything I know to do just that. I have the product. Just need to learn how to get it out there. Here is my bio….

I am a Multi Platinum Award Winning Music Producer/Songwriter/Composer. I started my career professionally in 1996 as one of the World Famous BadBoy Hitmen Producers. My first hit was Someone by SWV feat Puff Daddy. That was the first video I appeared in too:) From there I produced on the now 8x’s platinum ‘No Way Out’ album and did co production on over half that album. I produced a big hit on Kelly Price called ‘Friend Of Mine’. I also produced Satisfy You on Puff’s second album which was the first single and featured R.Kelly. Some of my credits include Boyz II Men, Carl Thomas, Faith Evans, Total, Montell Jordan, Biggie Duets, The Lox, Mase, Aaliyah, Gerald Levert, Gladys Knight, Tamia, Joe, & Tank. I also got into TV & Film. From 2010-2012 I composed all of the music beds for Tyler Perry’s ‘Meet The Browns’ and ‘House Of Payne’. I won the 2011 ASCAP Award for Music in Top TV Series ‘Meet The Browns’. In 2012 I scored my first feature film called ‘God’s Country’. Then in 2013 I scored another film directed by Tyler Perry’s brother Embree Perry called ‘No More Games’.

In 2012 I released my first Christmas Album on my own label Dubzworld Productionz called ‘Christmas At My House’. I produced the entire album and featured artist: Meelah (From 702), Angie Stone, Jazz (From Dru Hill), Kut Close, Joey Beans (It’sWritten All Over Your Face), The Real Rude Boys, Men At Large, and new and upcoming artists. I released it on tunecore with little promotion and it did pretty good.

The following year I did a P&D deal with Famous Records who is distributed by Universal late in the last quarter. I re released my Christmas Album and titled it ‘Holiday Music’. Its’ available now and here’s the link https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/holiday-music/id736393588

I’m all about being proactive and I’ve always been interested in circumventing these prehistoric labels and selling my music online. I realize this is a billion dollar a year industry and I want my piece of it! That’s why I signed up to educate myself on becoming an online Music Mogul. After listening to Jack’s marketing ideas it sounded like this was the place I could learn a lot.

I am currently wrapping up two albums I produced on my label as well as a album on myself. So with all of this incredible music I’m ready to start selling it to the masses.

This about raps up my bio. I know it’s pretty long but I plan on utilizing and networking here as much as I can. I have almost 20yrs in the music business but I’ll always be a student of the game. because I know there is always more to learn.

    God Bless, J.Dub.

  • This is John Wubbenhorst from Petaluma CA. in the USA. I play flutes with the bansuri (North Indian bamboo flute) becoming my primary instrument.Started out in jazz and western classical, then have gone deep in into classical Indian music (but still play and love jazz and western classical) with my bansuri guru Hariprasad Chaurasia. Been fortunate to play with many great musicians, but without proper marketing it can really be a struggle, so looking forward to this group. • Bart Stenhouse says:

    Greetings Everyone!

I am a jazz/world fusion multi-instrumentalist and composer based out of Brisbane, Australia. I finally joined up today after much consideration and thought, to start developing my music career further and connect with other artists from around the globe.

Here’s a little about me: I have been lucky enough to have been able to support myself entirely from my music activities for over a decade now through developing a portfolio career of performing, private teaching (guitar and bass guitar), university lecturing in music technology (I have my own recording studio at home and am a studio engineer) and now organising my own concerts and selling CDs at shows and online. I am looking forward to learning how to take it to the next level and start focusing more on developing greater online music/merchandise sales and greater live performance opportunities (which the latter I know is not necessarily covered in this program). I am currently in the process of starting up my own indie record label as well this year to release my music and manage my career (as well as those groups which I am a bandleader of and manage).

Here is a link to my debut album on CD Baby if anyone is interested in having a listen to it: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bartstenhouse.

Anyway, that is me. I look forward to meeting and learning with you guys (as well as listen to some of your music) as time goes on!

And thanks to John for creating this system and sharing it with us all!

    Best regards,
    Bart

    • HI Bart, nice to find you here. I also have been deeply moved by Indian music, I am sure we’ll connect some time. I have been studying with Hariprasad Chaurasia (bansuri) for 25 years and have been graced to play with many wonderful Indian musicians…….

  • Josh Bjork says:

Newcomer Josh here. I’m a little nervous about this. I’m sorta getting started, and I’m not a fan of buying things online, especially when it comes to monthly payments. I’m sorta counting on the idea that this will pay for itself once the music career gets some traction. I mostly play rock on guitar, and I mix my own music. I’m also a C.G. artist, but that’s a different story. Anyway, just thought I’d introduce myself and now I shall get food.

    • Hi Josh,

Welcome to the Insider Circle! Completely understand your hesitation. However I think you’re going to like the wealth of content here, as well as the varying strategies. Feel free to hit up the forums if you ever have questions, or would like someone to review your marketing for you.

    Hello All

My name is Crispin Gray, I’m a London (UK) based guitarist/songwriter. I was in a band called Daisy Chainsaw (signed to One Little Indian/A&M) and then Queenadreena (Warners/Rough Trade) and now play for The Dogbones. I’ve toured the UK, USA, Japan and Europe and had countless managers, press agents and booking agents etc. So I’ve seen the industry go from what it used to be to where it is now – hence my interest in MMM. Very happy to be here and looking forward to learning what I can………

Actually, I do remember how I got here….at the bottom of the “expired link” page I clicked on the words “log in”, and it took me here. Is there another link I can use to reset my password?

  • Lisa Richards says:

    HI John,

If I make a number of squeeze pages do I need a new domain name for each one?

    Thanks
    Lisa

    • Hi Lisa,

      Steve here from support.

No, you do not need a fresh domain for each squeeze page. If you are using a squeeze page on the top level of your site (http://yoursite.com), then you can just create a new squeeze page.

That way the url for the new squeeze page would be something like http://yoursite.com/new_squeeze . Normally, we wouldnโ€™t advise this, but if you are using a squeeze page on the top level as well, people will still land on a squeeze page, even if they remove the โ€œnew_squeezeโ€ portion out of the url for the new squeeze page.

      Make sense?

Therefore you can add multiple squeeze pages onto the same domain, as long as that top level is โ€œlocked offโ€ with a squeeze page already.

Let us know if you still need further clarification, or if we can ever help with anything else.

      • Lisa Richards says:

That is as clear as mud my friend ๐Ÿ™‚ My site is lisarichardssongs.com I have one squeeze page happening here. I want to write some other squeeze pages to advertise to different markets offering different download songs and different copy on the page,
for example, a squeeze page lisarichardssongs.com/lovesongs or lisarichardssongs.com/breakupsongs etc etc I’m not quite sure how it would work with the examples you gave…. Clarify please sir…

        Thanks
        Lisa

        • Hi Lisa,

          Steve here again.

The direct answer to your question is no, you do not need multiple domains to do what you are trying to do.

However, there is always a concern that someone could bypass your squeeze page and that’s what I was trying to explain.

For instance, if you were driving traffic to http://lisarichardssongs.com/lovesongs , someone could reasonably remove the “lovesongs” portion out of the url, by deleting it from the address bar.

However, doing so would only land them at http://lisarichardssongs.com , which is still a squeeze page itself. Therefore, you do not need multiple domains because your site is essentially “locked off” by the top level squeeze page.

This means that people won’t be able to find a way around signing up for one of them, if they really want your music.

If for instance http://lisarichardssongs.com was not a squeeze page, but rather a list of recent blog posts, then people could easily work their way around your “lovesongs” squeeze page, simply by altering removing the “lovesongs” out of the address bar, essentially bypassing your lovesongs squeze page.

This cannot happen to you with your current set-up, so therefore you do not need multiple domains to do what you are trying to do.

          Does that make sense?

Let us know if we can ever help with anything else.

      Hi Terry,

Are you talking about the email that goes out when someone emails me personally? If so, I use Gmail’s vacation autoresponder. I use Gmail to manage all of my support and they have a lot of handy tools.

If you mean the autoresponder I use to send out message at predetermined intervals, I’m using a company called Aweber. You can find out more about them here:

Hello all! I’m on the inside!

I’m John Kyle, and I’m recording my first EP in my home studio the next couple of months. My music is a grungy, folky, mostly melancholy alternative rock. As soon as I have the record ready to release, I want to have a marketing strategy in place. Glad I found John O!

I am looking forward to all the goodies here. I did sign up for the Gravatar and wonder why I still have the grey pallor of the anonymous creature? Does it take a while to update. Thanks for all you do John. Truly inspiring. Gratitude.

    • Hi Celia,
Steve here from Support. Welcome to the Insider Circle! It’s great to have you here.

It look’s like something is a little off with your gravatar, however you should easily be able to sort it out by logging in and just making sure that you’ve listed the photo with the right email address. The January lesson was very interesting…good stuff. Is there a February lesson on the way? Ok, look forward to it!

    Eric

    • Hi Eric,

Steve here. Great! Really glad you like the January lesson. I would think that the February lesson should be here, unless John is just putting the finishing touches on it. I’ll drop him a line and ask for you.

Let us know if we can ever help with anything else in the meantime.

      • John Oszajca says:

        Hey Eric,

Just saw this now. The lesson is now live. My apologies for the late lesson this month. As I explain in this lesson, I changed up the lesson plan at the last second and that threw me a few days behind. Sorry about that. Hope you enjoy the lesson.

  • Chris Freeman says:

I’m having difficulty figuring out how to download the lessons so I can take them with me. How do you do it?

    • Hi Chris,

      Steve here from support.

You’ll find that only the latest trainings are available for download. When John first releases a new training the training is downloadable, but only temporarily.

This is done to preserve the value of the members area for members who have been with us for quite some time and it keeps new members from downloading all the older content and then canceling the account within a day.

Is there a particular lesson that you wanted to grab, to listen to on the go? Let us know and I’ll see if we can get it to you somehow.

I have google chrome and I am unable to open the FTP server on my chromebook. Any suggestions? Or any other solution you are aware of where I can integrate my album into the funnel protected so the link will only be sent to subscribers who have paid. Thank You–Jon

    • Hi Jon,

Just to clarify, you should not be using the Filezilla server. Rather, you want the Filezila FTP client.

Making sure that your downloads only end up with paying customers can be accomplished by properly integrating paypal with your Aweber account. This is covered in the MMM 3.0 members area under Lesson 12.

My name is Christie Grace and I am a singer/songwriter in the pop/jazz genre. I’m from a little island off of Vancouver BC, called Bowen and have lived here doing my thing for 15 years. So I have been taking various marketing courses of late, to try to better understand how to actually do this more effortlessly, streamline, and hopefully in time, of course…sell much more of my music and live from it. So I’m looking forward to growing my understanding with you John and everyone else from all over. Nice to be here. Thanks!

Very excited to start putting some sound business practices into action for promoting my label and the debut release by a brilliant young musician I’ve just signed. Excited about interacting with all of you soon! Chairs!

Hi John , I’m a pro musician from Inverness Scotland with 30 years playing , recording , touring experience. I am Primarily a guitarist.
I am also a vocalist and have just recorded with a major Spanish DJ producer. I also play guitar in a touring Celtic Rock band called Coast (http://www. Coastrock.co.uk )

I have a music project that’s been on line for a few years now. We haven’t been selling very much and I really want to learn how to really maximise the online market.
I have done SEO and online stuff before ( I did a guy called Dan Brocks course ) but after 3 months I made no sales in what I was doing and I stopped.

I can only do this online marketing with music. Selling anything else leaves me cold.
Looking forward to getting stuck into it all and also meeting the other musicians that are involved.
    Cheers

    Hi Everyone!

My name is Liz and I am the drummer for Ghost Tribe Fires, a Seattle based alternative band, and now head of marketing for the group. We are currently recording two new songs after adding a piano player, which should be ready to release in the Spring – hopefully. We’ve been using Bandzoogle for our website, but it looks like we’ll now have to change to WordPress. We’ll have to see if they are compatible. Looking forward to learning new skills and growing our band to the success we are working towards!

    • Hi Liz,

welcome to the Insider Circle. It’s good to have you here. I’m not certain how flexible bandzoogle is, to be honest, but I believe we have had students execute the strategy using them previously. It’s just that everything in the MMM 3.0 course lines up with wordpress, on a typical hosting account, rather than a site-builder like Bandzoogle.

Feel free to start a thread in the forum, if you ever need any feedback on your marketing.

Let us know if we can ever help with anything at, as well.

I almost don’t want to leave 2013 with this latest Reverbnation #1 Experimental Chart for Brooklyn, NY rating! But there are other worlds to conquer for AVANT DUEL besides Brooklyn. I still am enjoying basking in the glow of a local achievement accomplished by just being there in the Experimental Charts. It represents what we do and separates us from most others. Looking forward to standing out here, as well. Thanks for making this space a place to share and learn from each otherโ€ฆI am, Otto von Ruggins, Master of the Unheard ร˜f
